Performance · Longevity · Legacy

I spent my life chasing the podium. Then I learned the harder, more important game: staying strong, sharp, and capable for the long run, and helping others do the same.

The Athlete

I came up chasing excellence on the mat.

I lived at the US Olympic Training Center as a resident athlete, competed around the world on the US National Team, won a Pan American Games gold medal and a World Championships bronze, and took seven US Senior Team Trials titles along the way. Taekwondo gave me a standard of excellence, and a way to measure it.

When I moved into coaching, I poured all of it into developing others, as Director of Education and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for USA Taekwondo's national teams, and as the remote coach who guided Stephen Lambdin for eight years, from teenager to the 2016 Olympic Games.

The Wake-Up Call

"Dad, where are your abs?"

My kid asked it the way kids do, no malice, just honesty. I was a Pan Am gold medalist and a national-team coach, and somewhere in the years of building everyone else up, I had stopped practicing what I preached. A month later, at 43, I broke my collarbone mountain biking, and it hit me: I was not fit enough to do life at the pace I demanded, and not healing fast enough for what I expected.

Years of wear and tear had wrecked my metabolism, thrown my hormones off, and put my mindset in the gutter.

The Turnaround

The fix was not more willpower. It was better information.

I did what I knew how to do as a coach. I measured. Blood work, VO2, body composition, biological age. And I learned the same thing I now tell every client: normal is not optimal, and the decade of decline is real unless you do something about it on purpose. The answer was not to overdo it. It was to use assessment and testing to build a custom protocol that fit my real life and goals, and then adjust it over time.

That became the systems I coach today: the Inner Athlete Project and the Performance Blueprint for athletes rebuilding their edge, the long-term development process for taekwondo athletes, and Primespan for leaders who want to protect their performance, longevity, and legacy.

What I Believe
